ALEA: McCalla man killed in Saturday crash on I-59

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports that a McCalla man died late Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle wreck on I-59.

According to a statement issued by ALEA, 76-year-old Jonathan Tarvin “was fatally injured when the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado that he was driving left the roadway and struck a parked 2021 Freightliner tractor trailer occupied by Justin R. Taylor, 40, of San Antonio, Texas. Tarvin was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred at about 5:50 p.m. Saturday, April 1, on Interstate 59 near the 59 mile marker, near the Fosters community southwest of Tuscaloosa. Troopers continue to investigate, according to ALEA.
