Vigil set to honor slain Huntsville officer, wounded colleague
Huntsville police and area churches are planning a candlelight vigil for Friday night to honor a fallen officer and his wounded colleague.
Huntsville police chief Kirk Giles, police command staff and officers, as well as city leaders and area pastors are scheduled to attend the vigil for Officers Garrett Crumby and Albert Morin.
The event will take place Friday at 7 p.m. at the Huntsville Police Fallen Officer Memorial, outside the city’s public safety complex at 815 Wheeler Ave.
Crumby later died at Huntsville Hospital. Morin was in critical condition but is expected to survive, according to authorities. Police have not released a condition report on the wounded woman.
Funeral services for Crumby will take place at Mayfair Church of Christ, 1095 Carl T Jones Drive S.E. with visitation Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m., and services Monday at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will be at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park on Monday, following the service in Huntsville.
