XFL Week 6 roundup: Defenders remain undefeated

In a meeting of the XFL’s division leaders on Monday night, coach Reggie Barlow’s D.C. Defenders stayed undefeated by taking a 37-26 victory over the Houston Roughnecks.

In the XFL’s other Week 6 games:

· A blocked punt in the fourth quarter put Seattle at the Orlando 6-yard line to set up the final touchdown in the Sea Dragons’ 26-19 victory over the Guardians on Saturday.

· St. Louis quarterback AJ McCarron had 19 consecutive completions and three touchdown passes in the Battlehawks’ 29-6 victory over the Vegas Vipers on Saturday.

· John Patrick Romo connected on field goals of 45 and 56 yards in the fourth quarter to lift the San Antonio Brahmas to a 15-9 victory over the Arlington Renegades on Sunday.

After giving up the game’s first eight points, the Defenders scored the next 26 on Monday night as they lifted their record to 6-0 – two games better than any other team in the league with four remaining on the regular-season schedule.

The Roughnecks won their first four games but now have lost two in a row. Houston still leads the South Division by one game.

Houston finished with 4 more yards than D.C. But Santos Ramirez returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown on the next snap after the Defenders had taken a 9-6 lead in the second quarter, and the Roughnecks hindered their chances by incurring 12 penalties. D.C. had three penalties and no turnovers.
