Murphy hires Tuskegee Hall of Famer Justin Hannah as head coach

Former West End High and Tuskegee University star Justin Hannah is the new head football coach at Mobile’s historic Murphy High School.

Hannah, 35, was officially approved by the Mobile County Board of Commissioners at their monthly meeting Monday morning.

He replaces John McKenzie, who left after one season to take the head coaching job at Paul Bryant in Tuscaloosa.

“I’m thrilled,” Hannah told AL.com about his first head coaching opportunity. “I’m looking forward to this opportunity and everything it brings. I’m looking forward to molding and cultivating student-athletes to be better players on the field and better people off of it.”

Hannah was defensive coordinator at Jackson-Olin High in 2022.
