An investigation is underway after a body was found in western Jefferson County over the weekend.

The discovery was made at 10:56 a.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of Fifth Avenue in Brighton.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies and Brighton firefighters responded to the scene and found the adult male unresponsive in the roadway. Efforts revive him were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead on the scene.

Deputy Chief David Agee said evidence at the location indicated the victim was dumped from a vehicle.

Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said an autopsy has been performed and there were no obvious signs of trauma or foul play in the man’s deaths.

The cause of death is pending additional laboratory testing.
