Ivey on Tuberville reparation remark: ‘I have not read the context of the article’

Gov. Kay Ivey on Friday was asked about comments made Saturday by Sen. Tommy Tuberville.

“I have not read the context of the article,” Ivey said. “I have not talked to Coach Tuberville. I suggest y’all talk to Coach Tuberville.”

Speaking at a Trump rally in Nevada, Tuberville, R-Alabama, said Democrats were in favor of “reparation” because they are “pro-crime.”

“They want crime. They want crime because they want to take over what you got. They want to control what you have,” Tuberville told the cheering crowd. “They want reparation because they think the people that do the crime are owed that. Bullshit. They are not owed that.”

AL.com has made multiple efforts to reach Tuberville for comment.

He has said nothing publicly about the statement in the six days since the Nevada rally.
