Pensacola man gets 6 years in prison for beating roommate’s dog

A Pensacola man has been sentenced to six years in prison for beating his roommate’s small dog on multiple occasions.

WEAR is reporting 25-year-old Andrew Vetters was sentenced to the jail term, plus four years of post-release supervision, after pleading no contest to aggravated animal cruelty and trespassing last December. He was arrested in March 2022.

According to a release from the Florida State Attorney’s Office, video footage showed Vetters entering his female roommate’s bedroom and abusing her dog.

“This abuse was captured on camera,” according to the release, “and the disturbing footage depicted the defendant as he violently beat the small dog on several occasions.”

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and Animal Control investigated the case.
