4 new No. 1s this week in ASWA HS baseball rankings

The shakeups have started already in the Alabama Sports Writers Association high school baseball rankings.

In just the second rankings of the year, there are four new No. 1s this week.

In Class 7A, Thompson moved to 20-0 with a pair of impressive wins on Saturday against perennial 6A power Cullman (13-3) and reigning 7A champ Central-Phenix City (12-2). Spain Park handed Thompson its first loss of the season late Wednesday night — 5-4 in 11 innings — but the Warriors still land on top of the rankings this week ahead of Bob Jones, Tuscaloosa County and Central.

The other new No. 1s this week are Headland (5A), Andalusia (4A) and Gordo (3A). Hartselle (6A), G.W. Long (2A), Appalachian (1A) and Glenwood (AISA) remained on top in their respective classifications.
