Police investigating possible drugging of four females who used rideshare bus on Auburn campus

Authorities are investigating after four females who used a rideshare bus parked on Auburn University’s campus Friday night may have been drugged by the vehicle’s driver, the university announced Wednesday.

The city of Auburn Police Department and a campus security authority reported the incident Tuesday to the university’s Department of Campus Safety & Security, the university said.

One of the four females told the campus security authority that she and her friends used a local rideshare bus to get to an off-campus event, according to the university.

The driver of the rideshare bus provided drinks to the riders, and the four females got sick after consuming the drink.

The female who reported the incident to the campus security authority said she had two to three drinks, including a mixed drink given to her by the driver, and experienced vomiting, numbness, confusion and memory loss.

A suspect has not been identified, the university said, adding that Auburn police are investigating the incident.
