Police on scene of Birmingham’s 4th killing in 36 hours

Birmingham police are on the scene of a deadly shooting, the city’s fourth in 36 hours.

West Precinct officers were dispatched at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday to the 5900 block of Jesse Owens Avenue, which intersects with Sugar Ray Drive.

A male was found shot and pronounced dead on the scene. It appears the victim was found outside in a residential area.

No additional details have been released and no suspects are in custody.

Police have roped off the block and multiple investigators are on the scene.

After somewhat of a lull in deadly violence, the victim is the city’s four homicide victim since 12:40 a.m. Monday, and the 21st so far this year.
