There are five new No. 1 teams in this week’s AHSAA soccer coaches’ rankings, including in Class 4A where the Orange Beach girls jumped from No. 9 to the top spot.

The Makos are 11-2 on the season with losses coming only to Class 7A Baker and Foley. Orange Beach lost its opener to Foley before winning eight in a row before falling 1-0 on March 10 to Baker.

The other new No. 1 teams in the girls’ rankings are 6A Homewood, 5A Marbury and 1A/3A Houston Academy.

Oak Mountain moved back to No. 1 in the boys’ Class 7A poll, replacing previously top-ranked Grissom. The Eagles are 12-2-1 on the season while Grissom is 8-0-2.

There was a change at the top in the boys’ “Super Poll” – the top 10 teams regardless of classification – as Fort Payne moved ahead of Grissom. The No. 1 team in the girls’ Super Poll for the second week is Oak Mountain.
