7-year-old Tennessee child killed, 4 others hurt in I-22 crash in Walker County
A young child was killed, and four others injured in a Walker County crash on Sunday afternoon.
Authorities have not released the identity of the 7-year-old fatality victim. The child was from Memphis.
The wreck happened at 2:55 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 22, about five miles west of Jasper, said Alabama State Trooper Cpl. Reginal King.
King said the child was a passenger in a 2012 Hyundai Tuscon that was struck by a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The child was pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver of the Tuscon, 29-year Kieyana Brown, and three other passengers were taken to area hospitals for undisclosed injuries.
Troopers identified the driver of the Grand Cherokee as 60-year-old Cynthia C. Williams of Mountain Brook.
The crash remains under investigation by troopers.
