A 70-year-old woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Tallapoosa County.

Alabama State Troopers identified the fatality victim as Martha K. Powell. She lived in Ashland.

The crash happened at 11:12 a.m. Wednesday on Alabama 63, about five miles north of Alex City, said Trooper Sgt. Jeremy Burkett.

Powell was a passenger in a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that left the road and struck a concrete culvert. Powell, who authorities said was not using a seat belt, was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the truck, 34-year-old Bradley W. Powell, was taken to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery.
