Brandon Miller is Alabama’s first player on NABC All-America list since 1987
Alabama star forward Brandon Miller was named Wednesday as a second-team All-American by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), one of four All-America lists recognized by the NCAA’s record book toward consensus status.
Miller is the first Alabama player to appear on any of the NABC All-America lists since Derrick McKey was a third-team pick in 1987. The program has never had a first-team NABC All-American.
Earlier this month, Miller was named a first-team All-American by the Sporting News and was named Tuesday as a first-team pick of the Associated Press. The only organization recognized by the NCAA that has yet to release its All-American is the USBWA, the basketball writers’ association.
Alabama has never had a consensus first-team All-American, and its only consensus second-team All-American was Leon Douglas in 1975. Miller would become a consensus first-team All-American if he is included on the USBWA’s first team.
The NABC’s first team picks were Purdue’s Zach Edey, Kansas’ Jalen Wilson, Indiana’s Trayce Jackson-Davis, Gonzaga’s Drew Timme and Houston’s Marcus Sasser.
Miller was joined on the NABC’s second team by UCLA’s Jaime Jaquez, Penn State’s Jalen Pickett, Kentucky’s Oscar Tshiebwe and Arizona’s Azuolas Tubelis.
