A teenage girl was taken to a Mobile-area hospital after she was shot by a gunman who opened fire into a home Monday night, police said Tuesday.

Mobile officers responded to the 2000 block of Serigny Drive around 7:54 p.m. Monday on a report of a shooting, said Cpl. Ryan Blakely.

Officers found that a home was shot into and that a 15-year-old girl inside was hit by gunfire, Blakely said.

The girl was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation was ongoing as of Tuesday morning.
