Alabama woman wins $2 million lottery, plans to return to native North Carolina

An Alabama woman won $2 million after purchasing a scratch-off lottery ticket in her native North Carolina and plans to return to her home state after receiving the windfall.

“I just couldn’t believe it,” Brittaney Dominguez told North Carolina lottery officials after purchasing the $20 Mega 7′s ticket in Fayetteville, North Carolina. “It didn’t really register.”

Dominguez took the ticket to a friend’s house, where she scratched it to reveal her $2 million prize. She then returned to the store where she bought the ticket to make sure she was actually a millionaire.

“The store clerk gave me a huge hug,” Dominguez said, according to the lottery. “I told her she was my good luck charm.”

Dominguez told lottery officials she’ll buy a house, invest her winnings and possibly purchase a food truck with her winnings, which come to $854,633 after electing to take the $1.2 million lump sum payment and tax withholdings.
