3.2 million Calico Critter toys recalled after 2 deaths reported

A popular children’s toy has been recalled after two deaths have been linked to the products.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Epoch Everlasting Play announced a recall for more than 3.2 million flocked Calico Critters animal figures and sets that were sold with bottle and pacifier accessories.

The sets, manufactured between 2000 and 2021, could pose a chocking hazard to children, according to Epoch. According to a release from the company, there have been three choking incidents related to the pacifier accessories, including the deaths of a 2-year-old child in New Mexico in 2018 and a 9-month old child in Japan in 2015.

The bottle accessories were sold in yellow, pink, blue and orange; pacifiers were sold in yellow, orange, pink, dark pink, blue and teal colors. The toy sets were sold at Walmart and other stores nationwide and online at www.calicocritters.com and www.amazon.com.
