An Alabama man was fatally struck by a pickup truck while he was walking in a roadway in southwest Alabama Saturday evening.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency identified the victim as Elbert Able, an Orrville, man who was 69 years old.

Officials said Able was was in the roadway on Dallas County 31, just south of Orrville, at about 5 p.m. when he was struck by a Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Thomas Johnson, who is also from Orrville.

Able was pronounced dead on the scene. No further information was released by ALEA as of Sunday morning.
