How to help 5 Alabama HBCUs win money for their campuses

Five Alabama HBCUs are in a contest sponsored by The Home Depot to win money for campus improvements and it only takes a minute or two to help them win.

Miles College in Fairfield, Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Stillman College in Tuscaloosa and Tuskegee University in Tuskegee are in The Home Depot’s Retool Your School contest. All schools are in the running to receive one of 30 grants ranging from $40,000 to $150,000 for campus improvement projects.

Schools that have won in the past have used their grant money to create centers and gathering places for students as well as installing new furniture in places across campus.

There are two ways to vote for the school of your choice: online or through social media.

To vote online, head to https://retoolyourschool.com/vote/. From there, you can search for the school you want to vote for, which is included in one of three clusters.

To vote via social media, use your school’s hashtag on Twitter or Instagram. All hashtags can be found here.

Voting ends on March 26.

There is also a leaderboard available, which shows the current ranking of all schools. As of March 11, Alabama A&M University is sitting at number one in their cluster, with Alabama State University at number four. Tuskegee University is also at number four in their cluster.
