A fiery crash on Interstate 22 Friday morning left one person dead.

The wreck happened at 12:40 a.m. on I-22 in Graysville, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

Authorities said the fatality victim – a man whose identity has not yet been released – was driving a sedan eastbound in the westbound lanes and collided head-on with a tractor-trailer.

Both vehicles caught fire.

The fatality victim was pronounced dead on the scene. It wasn’t immediately clear if the truck driver sustained injuries.

Alabama State Troopers are investigating the deadly crash.
