Reese Witherspoon among producers of ‘Love in Fairhope,’ from Hulu

Streaming service Hulu has confirmed that it’s backing a new reality show called “Love in Fairhope” and that the people behind it include actress Reese Witherspoon.

There had been scattered local reports that production was underway on the series in recent months and that it might find a home on Hulu. But official word had been scarce until confirmation reported Thursday by deadline.com, variety.com and other industry outlets.

According to those reports, “Love in Fairhope” is among three new reality shows ordered by Hulu Originals. The other two have no Alabama connections: “Royal Rules of Ohio” concerns three sisters of royal descent “navigating their 20s” in Columbus, Ohio; “Secrets and Sisterhood: The Sozahdahs” follows ten Muslim American sisters in Los Angeles.

“Love in Fairhope” is described as a series that follows five generations of women in a small Southern town where “everyone knows everyone else’s business, but no one knows where hopelessly romantic dreams, passion and inspiration will take them.”

Witherspoon is among several executive producers. Three studios are involved: Evolution Media, Hello Sunshine and Tremont Road. Hello Sunshine is a media company cofounded by Witherspoon; she has extensive credits as a producer, including projects such as the movie “Where the Crawdads Sing” and the new Amazon Prime series “Daisy Jones & the Six.”

Tuesday’s reports revealed no information about how many episodes the show might span, or when it will be released.
