Baker 2024 dual-threat QB commits to SEC West school

Baker quarterback Josh Flowers has committed to Mississippi State.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound junior is currently listed as the No. 22 recruit in the state’s Class of 2024, according to the 247 composite rankings.

Flowers’ profile also lists offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, N.C. State, Texas A&M, Tulane and UAB.

As a junior, he rushed for 1,367 yards and 15 touchdowns and passed for 1,453 yards and 10 scores.

“He’s a gamechanger,” Baker coach Steve Normand told AL.com before Flowers’ junior season. “He can hurt you running or throwing, a true dual-threat guy who puts a lot of pressure on defenses.”

Flowers also was a starter on the Hornets’ basketball team, which reached the Class 7A South Regional final.
