North Alabama inmate recaptured after month on the run

A Lawrence County jail inmate who escaped from her job with the jail’s work release program last month is back in custody after being found Wednesday in Marion County.

Quittney Nichols, 30, who walked off her job as a cook at a north Alabama restaurant under the work release program Feb. 8, was located by Hamilton police following a tip from a “concerned citizen,” the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office told WAAY.

Nichols, who was being held by Lawrence County authorities on a probation violation, was recaptured by Hamilton police without incident, the office said.

Her recapture came a day after another Lawrence County jail inmate on the lam, 45-year-old Adam Bolan, was found in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Bolan, who was being held on a drug trafficking charge, escaped from Lawrence County Jail on March 4, using a mat to protect himself from razor wire as he went over, according to authorities.
