Alabama-Tennessee fan rap battle might be bigger than the upcoming SEC showdown

Miami already tried him. Now it’s Tennessee’s turn.

University of Alabama English instructor Brian Oliu came out of rap battle retirement after a Volunteers fan dropped a lyrical bomb on TikTok, challenging Crimson Tide fans ahead of Saturday’s SEC showdown in Knoxville.

Shirtless and with an absolutely jacked sketch of Vol mascot Smoky tattooed on his chest for some reason, TikTok user andyvfl423 blessed the timeline with “some of this heat” to let Bama fans know what’s about to go down in K-Town. “After this game, you will not survive / Bama go ahead and retire while you alive / Tennessee about to drop the hamma’ on Bama / it will be like they were dragged through the slamma’ / yeah they awful, that ugly crimson / you should be locked up in a prison / look as dumb as Homer Simpson / that ugly fat elephant isn’t really irrelevant.”

That’s just a taste, y’all. Watch the rest. In fact, this legend has since released another TikTok slinging even more heat, so take notice. Why even bother showing up at Neyland Stadium Saturday? This is already over. Or is it?

Oliu struck back with more of a spoken word vibe. Decked out in a sick Crimson Tide starter jacket and sky blue shades, the UA teacher and author (and co-host of the Alabama football fan podcast “FOG Advisory” with Reckon editor John Hammontree) graced Twitter with his signature emotional eloquence Wednesday, with a preface.

“I should be retired. I’m a dad. I’m almost 40. But you made fun of Big Al. So now I’ve got to put your ass to sleep.”

“I might be biting from Exhibit C to open up these bars / but at least I haven’t been prohibited to light up a cigar for over 16 years / That wasn’t at a quinceañera / Rarified air when it comes to era that you bear witness to / and I’m not talking about Paul / Finebaum your ass off the map, harvest your sorrow, kill ‘em all / y’all been rocky bottomed since Lane left for Hollywood / nation of domination dog-walk your team from here to Dollywood.

“I’m sorry, Miss Dolly / I really didn’t mean that / it’s just these garbage truck workers make me spit trash / gotta recycle a line / they lowdown, they dirty / workin’ 9 to 5 just to lose by 30.”

I mean, ring the bell. The most one-sided Verzuz since…? OK, here’s another quick simple, but you should watch the whole thing for the experience. Or watch both and decide who won this battle.

“Cheetah package gonna break your offense like the machine that makes McFlurries / when they said put some hair on your chest, they didn’t mean a furry.”

This obviously isn’t the first verse Oliu spit at an opposing fan base. In 2021, a Miami fan’s two-minute diss track of the Crimson Tide was viewed more than one million times before he had to step in. “We ain’t scared of you, and you know it’s true / Tide fans in denial. They ain’t got a clue,” rapped “Coop” in his Miami orange and green armed with a giant spoon and a grill that both steal the show. The 31-year-old, life-long Miami fan from East Tennessee wasn’t new to an opposing fan base reacting to his animated and over-the-top antics when it comes to the Hurricanes. “This is gonna be how the game’s gonna go,” the diss track goes. “Bama fans, keep up because you kinda slow.”

Not to be outdone, Oliu clapped back with his own diss track, more of a spoken word flamethrower meant to put “Coop” and the Miami fan base back in their place. “Flo Milli, Rich Boy, Doe B, The Last Mr. Bigg, G-Side, Dirty, Gucci Mane, & YBN Nahmir were all too busy to respond to @TheCoachCoop’s brutal assault on our beloved Crimson Tide so I took it upon myself to defend Alabama’s honor,” Oliu, decked out in a beautiful Alabama Starter jacket (with the Vault A logo) tweeted with his immaculate retort.
