Nebraska’s Trey Palmer recorded the fastest 40-yard dash among the wide receivers at the NFL Scouting Combine with a 4.33-second clocking on Saturday.

TCU’s Derius Davis finished as the second-fastest wide receiver with a 4.36-second showing, with Arkansas’ Matt Landers third-fastest at 4.37 seconds.

Four players from Alabama high schools and colleges ran the 40-yard dash with the wide-receivers group on Saturday:

· Houston wide receiver Tank Dell ran a 4.49-second 40. Dell played at Alabama A&M in 2018.

· Charlotte wide receiver Grant DuBose (Park Crossing) clocked a 4.5-second 40.

· Louisiana wide receiver Michael Jefferson (Murphy) ran the 40 in 4.56 seconds. (Jefferson also played at Alabama State from 2018 through 2020.)

· South Alabama wide receiver Jalen Wayne (Spanish Fort) recorded a 4.51-second 40.

In addition to Landers, 10 other SEC wide receivers ran the 40 on Saturday. Their times included:

· LSU’s Kayshon Boutte: 4.50 seconds

· South Carolina’s Jalen Brooks: 4.69

· Arkansas’ Jadon Haselwood: 4.66

· Ole Miss’ Malik Heath: 4.64

· Tennessee’s Jalin Hyatt: 4.40

· Georgia’s Kearis Jackson: 4.55

· LSU’s Jaray Jenkins: 4.60

· Ole Miss’ Jonathan Mingo: 4.46

· Florida’s Justin Shorter: 4.55

· Tennessee’s Cedric Tillman: 4.54

In the other measured drills on Saturday, the leaders among the wide receivers included:

Vertical jump: West Virginia’s Bryce Ford-Wheaton and SMU’s Rashee Rice tied for the best mark among the wide receivers at 41 inches. TCU’s Quentin Johnston finished one-half inch behind the leaders.

Broad jump: Tennessee’s Jalin Hyatt cleared 135 inches – 11 feet, 3 inches – to lead the wide receivers in the broad jump. Hyatt went 1 inch farther than Liberty’s Demario Douglas and TCU’s Quentin Johnston.
