A Jasper man was killed in a crash on Interstate 459 in Hoover.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the fatality victim as Bobby Lamar. He was 46.

The wreck happened at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on I-459 northbound between Montgomery Highway and Lorna Road.

Authorities said Lamar was the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle. No other vehicles were involved.

Hoover police Capt. Keith Czeskleba said Lamar may have suffered a medical emergency that caused the wreck. He struck a concrete median near the Galleria.

Lamar was taken to Grandview Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 11:14 p.m.

Hoover police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
