Alabama man arrested for child porn after asking for ‘little girl,’ authorities say

A Limestone County man faces charges of possessing child pornography and tampering with evidence after his arrest Tuesday.

The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office said Ricky Davis Grimes, 57, of Elkmont, was taken into custody following an investigation that began in January.

According to authorities, the sheriff’s office received a tip on Jan. 20 that Grimes had made a Facebook group post asking if anyone had a “little girl” for him.

According to investigators, the post indicated that Grimes was holding a 13-year-old child and seeking another.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for Grimes’ residence and executed it the same day. While they did not find a child, they did discover electronic devices that they say Grimes tried to destroy when he saw investigators approaching.

A subsequent search of the devices revealed images of child pornography. Another search warrant at Grimes’ residence on Tuesday turned up more electronic devices, authorities said.

Grimes is being held in the Limestone County Detention Center on $62,000 bond, on eight counts of possession of obscene matter, and two counts of tampering with physical evidence.

Limestone County Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin commended investigators for their work, and community members who reported the initial Facebook post.
