Shannon Sharpe rips Alabama’s Brandon Miller: ‘What’s funny about a Black man being patted down?’
Shannon Sharpe didn’t hold back Monday, blasting Alabama’s Brandon Miller for his pregame pat-down introduction on Monday’s “Undisputed.”
“I understand that he been doing this routine, but Skip (Bayless), once you become part of a murder investigation, you let that go,” Sharpe said. “It’s inappropriate; someone tragically lost their life. And to the young woman’s family, I am so sorry what transpired. It’s senseless and should not have happened.”
Prior to Alabama’s home game against Arkansas on Saturday, Miller was introduced to the crowd before being patted down by a teammate, something that has been part of his pregame all season.
Alabama coach Nate Oats said the introduction won’t happen again.
“But, it’s not funny. It’s not cute,” Sharpe said. “And first of all, you continuously do that. What’s cute? What’s funny about a Black man being patted down? Do you understand what’s going on in America? You think that’s cute?”
It came after police said he delivered a gun to a teammate who is charged in a fatal shooting near campus. Miller has been an active member of the No. 2-ranked team and isn’t considered a suspect.
