Bryce Young will not throw or run drills at NFL combine

Former Alabama quarterback Bryce Young will not participate in throwing or timing drills at this week’s NFL combine, NFL Network reported Monday.

Young will still interview with NFL teams and presumably will have his measurements taken — height and weight numbers that will be heavily scrutinized this week in Indianapolis.

Listed at 6-feet tall and 194 pounds, Young said the day he declared for the 2023 NFL draft in January that he did not know what he would measure at the combine.

“That’s a good question,” he said Jan. 2 with a laugh. “I guess we’ll see.”

Young will throw at Alabama’s pro day March 23 in Tuscaloosa, according to the report, which added Young is “long past” a shoulder injury he suffered in September at Texas and affected him for weeks.

Young is expected to speak to reporters Friday at the Indianapolis convention center in his first news conference since he declared for the draft.

He is one of 13 players from Alabama at this year’s combine, the most in the nation.

Young and teammate Will Anderson are ESPN’s Nos. 1 and 2 top-rated players for the 2023 draft.
