Troy’s schedule includes midweek ‘Battle for the Belt’

Troy on Friday released its full 2023 football schedule, which includes a midweek “Battle for the Belt” for the second straight year.

The Trojans host the Jaguars at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Troy on Nov. 2, a Thursday. The game will be broadcast on one of the ESPN family of networks.

After beginning the season with non-conference games at home vs. Stephen F. Austin (Sept. 2) and at Kansas State (Sept. 9), the Trojans open Sun Belt Conference play Sept. 16 at home vs. James Madison. Troy then goes back into non-conference play by hosting Western Kentucky on Sept. 23.

Troy returns to league play at Georgia State on Sept. 30, then at home vs. Arkansas State Oct. 7. A non-conference road trip to Army on Oct. 14 leads into an open date Oct. 21.

The Trojans then play at Texas State Oct. 28 before hosting South Alabama five days later. Troy finishes the season at Louisiana-Monroe Nov. 11, at home vs. Louisiana Nov. 18 and at Southern Miss Nov. 2.

Troy went 12-2 and won the Sun Belt championship in 2022, the first season under coach Jon Sumrall. The Trojans open spring football practice on March 6.
