Air fryer recall: 2 million air fryers recalled due to fire, burn hazards

More than 2 million air fryers are being recalled due to the possibility they could catch fire, melt or overheat.

The recall involves Cosori air fryers sold nationwide in stores and online for places such as Best Buy, Target, Kohl’s, Home Depot, Walmart and Amazon.com, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Distributed by Atekcity Corp. of Anaheim, California, the air fryers were sold June 2018 through December 2022 for between $70 and $130.

According to CPSC, the company has received 205 reports of the air fryers catching fire, burning, melting, overheating and smoking. Ten of these reports involved minor, superficial burns and 23 reports included property damage.

The recalled fryers have “Cosori on the front of each unit with the model number printed on the label of each machine and its user manual. The units are size 3.7 and 5.8 qt. and were sold in black, gray, white, blue or red. You can go here to see model numbers.

Customers are advised to immediately stop using the air fryers and contact Cosori to receive their choice of a free replacement air fryer or another Cosori product by registering at recall.cosori.com. No receipt is needed to receive a replacement but those who register must provide their contact information and submit photos of the recalled unit with the cord cut off.
