Authorities have released the name of a man killed in a Monday-night crash in Pinson.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the fatality victim as Jermaine Cornell East. He was 47 and lived in Pinson.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 8:40 p.m. Monday to the 4600 block of Bud Holmes Road near Tapawingo Road. They arrived to find East’s Toyota Camry at the bottom of a ravine.

Coroner’s officials said East was pronounced dead on the scene at 9 p.m. It wasn’t immediately clear how long the car had been in the ravine.

The wreck remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team.
