An early-morning crash in Hoover left one person dead.

Hoover police and fire medics responded at 7:07 a.m. Wednesday to Interstate 65 northbound on a report of a single-vehicle accident, said Hoover police Capt. Keith Czeskleba. That location is one mile north of the Interstate 459 junction.

Witnesses told officers that a BMW 420i struck the center concrete median, left the road, and hit a tree.

The driver, an adult male, was transported by Hoover Fire and Rescue to Brookwood Baptist Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later. His name has not yet been released.

Hoover Police traffic officers are investigating to determine the cause of the crash.
