The Maids of Jubilee rolled Friday night in Fairhope, adding some brightness to Mardi Gras on the Eastern Shore. See photos in the accompanying gallery.

We’re now into what’s known by some as “Deep Gras,” the five-day marathon of parades and other festivities culminating in Fat Tuesday. Saturday will be a big day across the region, with parades in Prichard, Saraland, Fairhope, Daphne and Orange Beach. Afternoon parades in Mobile will be followed by the dragons of the Mystics of Time Saturday evening.

Sunday brings the distinctive festivities of Joe Cain Day to Mobile, among other events.
