New clue emerges in 2021 shooting death of woman found in Birmingham yard

New information has emerged in the 2021 slaying of woman found shot to death in the front yard of a Birmingham home.

Nia Peoples, 30, was discovered about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021, in a yard in the 1600 block of Eighth Avenue West.

The person who lived in that home discovered the body near the front door of the house.

Police at the time said investigators believe the woman may have been shot in a nearby alley before running away and collapsing in the yard.

No arrests have been made.

On Friday, Birmingham police released a photo of a dark SUV. Peoples, they said, was seen getting out of that vehicle and collapsed moments later.
