Cowboys’ Trevon Diggs subject of lawsuit over rent

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs is the subject of a lawsuit filed by a former landlord, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported on Thursday.

Rose Marie Yadegar’s lawsuit filed in Denton County seeks unpaid rent, maintenance and damage fees and late penalties associated with Diggs’ one-year lease on a house in Frisco, Texas.

The lawsuit states Diggs signed the lease in March 2022, but he left the property in July.

Although the property leased for $5,500 a month, the lawsuit is seeking up to $250,000 in total compensation.

“This appears to stem from some misunderstanding or miscommunication going on with this rental property that ended sometime last year,” Scott Becker, Diggs’ attorney, told WFAA-TV in Dallas. “… He thought this matter was completely resolved, so to have this situation arise out of the blue was a bit of a shock to him.”

Becker said Diggs wanted to find a solution, but Yadegar told WFAA-TV she had tried to work things out before filing the lawsuit.

Diggs joined the Dallas Cowboys from Alabama as the 51st selection in the 2020 NFL Draft and signed a four-year, $6,320,907 contract.

In his second season, Diggs led the NFL with 11 interceptions, the highest single-season total in 40 years. He made first-team All-Pro.

In 2022, Diggs intercepted three passes and again was selected as a Pro Bowler.
