A Mobile father was charged with murder and aggravated child abuse in connection with the death of his toddler daughter, police said Tuesday.

Mobile police officers responded to the Bay Towne Apartments at 601 Village Green Dr. around 1:04 p.m. Sunday on a call of an unresponsive 13-month-old toddler, said Cpl. Katrina Frazier.

Mobile Fire-Rescue personnel pronounced the girl dead at the scene, Frazier said.

The preliminary autopsy showed the cause of death was blunt force trauma.

After an investigation, police arrested 31-year-old Deandre Franklin on felony murder and aggravated child abuse charges.
