Madison woman killed in Clay County crash

Zamaria T. Whetstone, a 24-year-old woman from Madison, was killed early Sunday morning when her car left the roadway and struck a tree.

The single-vehicle crash occurred on Alabama 148 near the 10 mile marker, about five miles from Sylacauga city limits in Clay County. The crash happend about 2:45 a.m. Sunday, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Whetstone was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the agency.

“Nothing further is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate,” Gregory Corble, a senior trooper with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, said in a statement.
