Decatur man convicted of capital murder in 2018 hit-and-run death, robbery

A Decatur man will be sentenced to death or life in prison without parole after he was convicted of capital murder in the hit-and-run death and robbery of another man in 2018.

Jason Michael Osborn, 44, of Decatur, was convicted by a Morgan County jury after less than an hour of deliberations, WAAY reported.

The verdict had not yet been in court records as of early Tuesday evening.

Osborn was arrested in September 2019 on murder and robbery charges for allegedly robbing 42-year-old Ricardo Dwayne Brown, of Decatur, of drugs and money before running him over at the corner of 12th Avenue Northwest and 3rd Street Northwest in October 2018, police said at the time.

Osborn’s sentencing date has not yet been set.
