Former Auburn DB takes over Decatur High football program

Aairon Savage – a member of Auburn’s 2010 national championship football team – has been named the new head football coach at Decatur High.

Savage replaces Jere Adcock, who led the Red Raiders for 27 years.

The Albany, Ga., native played defensive back on Auburn’s 2010 BCS title team.

He comes to Decatur after coaching defensive backs for Western Illinois.

Savage also has had college coaching experience at Louisiana-Lafayette, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Georgia State, Northern Iowa, Arkansas Tech and Army.

He also spent time as a graduate assistant at Georgia Tech and Auburn.

In his Auburn career, Savage finished with 116 tackles. He had 37 tackles in the Tigers’ 2010 season.
