Florida State QB won’t back down on viral Alabama comments: ‘We stand on what I said’

Tommy Castellanos isn’t back down from his comments he made about Alabama earlier this offseason.

“We stand on what I said,” the Florida State quarterback said Wednesday at ACC Media Days. “I said what I said and we stand on that. I don’t mean no disrespect to none of those guys at Alabama or nothing like that. It was just I have confidence in my guys, the work we’ve been putting in, preparing, and the preparation we’ve been putting together.

“So, that’s all that was. No disrespect to those guys but we stand on what I said.”

Last month, the Seminoles transfer quarterback talked about his eagerness to face the Crimson Tide.

“I’m excited, man,” Castellanos said in June. “People, I don’t know if they know, but you go back and watch every first game that I played in, we always start fast.

“I dreamed of moments like this. I dreamed of playing against Alabama. They don’t have Nick Saban to save them. I just don’t see them stopping me.”

The initial response was met by a stern message last week from Alabama players during their time at the podium during SEC Media Days in Atlanta.

“It definitely ignites us a little bit,” Alabama’s Deontae Lawson said. “We can’t really think too much on that, because it’s just going to come down to what we do, and how we prepare that week.’

At that point, Lawson sent a simple message: “All disrespect will be addressed accordingly.”

Alabama’s Tim Keenan was even more succinct: “Disrespect will be addressed.”

The Crimson Tide will face the Seminoles at 2:30 p.m. CT on Aug. 30 at Doak Walker Stadium.
