Chicago Bears waive their only player from Alabama
The Chicago Bears will hold their first practice of training camp on Wednesday as the only team in the NFL without a player from an Alabama high school or college.
That wouldn’t have been the case if the Bears had begun on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Chicago waived defensive tackle Jereme Robinson, a former football and basketball standout at Carver High School in Montgomery. Robinson was the only player on the team’s roster with Alabama football roots.
Robinson had joined the Bears as an undrafted rookie in April after playing five seasons at Kansas and had gone through Chicago’s offseason program.
The Bears waived Robinson when they signed defensive lineman Tanoh Kpassagnon, an eight-year NFL veteran.
