Phish summer 2023 tour kicking off with two nights in Alabama

Phish will begin their 2023 summer tour in Alabama in July, the band announced Tuesday.

The legendary jam band will perform two nights at Orion Amphitheater: Tuesday, July 11 and Wednesday, July 12, opening a tour that then moves to three straight nights in Alpharetta, Ga.

The globally popular quartet from Vermont features guitarist Trey Anastasio, bassist Mike Gordon, drummer Jon Fishman and keyboard player Page McConnell. In 2022, they played a three-night run at The Wharf Amphitheater in Orange Beach.

The dates mark Phish’s debut at Orion Amphitheater, which has hosted popular artists like Dave Matthews Band, Stevie Nicks, Jack White, Chris Stapleton, Black Keys, Earth, Wind & Fire, Kenny Chesney, Black Crowes, Widespread Panic and My Morning Jacket.

The tour takes up 23 dates, beginning July 11 and culminating with their traditional Labor Day Weekend run at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo., where they’ll play four nights. The tour also includes a seven-night run at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

Phish’s official website says a ticket request period is currently underway at tickets.phish.com, ending Monday, Feb. 27 at noon EST. Tickets go on sale to the public beginning Friday, March 3 at 10 a.m. EST. You can also access it via theorionhuntsville.com/phish. Specific ticketing information for each show is available at phish.com/tours.

Phish has played Alabama 14 times, according to Phish.net. They scheduled a 2020 show they later postponed for July 30, 2021 at Oak Mountain Amphitheatre in Pelham due to COVID-19. When Phish played Orange Beach last year, Widespread Panic coincidentally played the same dates at Orion Amphitheater. The bands used to play shows together in the early ‘90s, each opening for the other depending on the stop (Phish would headline Northeast gigs while Panic would top the Southeast runs).
