Ole Miss football player killed in shooting
Ole Miss freshman Corey Adams died from gunshot wounds on Saturday night in Tennessee.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Adams, 18, was found in a vehicle after a shooting took place around 10:14 p.m. in a Cordova, TN neighborhood. Life saving measures were attempted by the deputies, but Adams was pronounced dead at the scene.
Adams was one of five victims in the shooting, the other four are listed in non-critical condition according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
The Ole Miss football program released a statement on social media in the aftermath of Adams’ death noting that the program “is trying to cope with this tragic loss,” and “our thoughts are with his loved ones during this difficult time.
Adams had committed to the Rebels on June 25, 2024, and was a star defensive lineman on the Edna Karr High School football team. Adams was named to the Louisiana Sports Writers Association to the Class 5A all-state team and was selected as the 5A defensive player of the year in 2024.
