Juvenile charged in Anniston shooting that killed 20-year-old man

A weekend shooting left a young man dead in Anniston.

Officers responded about 5 p.m. Saturday to a report of a person shot in the 400 block of W. 29th Street, said Sgt. Jason Hawkins.

The victim has been identified as 20-year-old Christian D. Toyer.

When police arrived on the scene, they found Toyer in the roadway. The victim died while being transported to Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center.

Hawkins said a juvenile has been charged with manslaughter in Toyer’s death. The suspect’s name is not being released because of his, which also wasn’t disclosed.

The juvenile’s bond is set at $18,000.
