BJ’s Wholesale is the latest chain announcing plans for Alabama.

The Massachusetts-based membership warehouse will open its first location in Alabama at Town Madison in north Alabama.

Reports show building permits were recently approved for the $13.2 million warehouse club located at 165 Graphics Drive in Madison.

Massachusetts-based BJ’s Wholesale operates some 229 locations in 17 states, mostly along the East Coast. The Madison location would be the first in Alabama. Each of its locations, according to the company’s website, employs about 150 people.

BJ’s sells memberships ranging from $55-$110 a year. The chain offers fresh food and a full-service deli as well as optical and tire services and on-site gas stations.

The chain currently has some 6.5 million members with $16.7 billion in annual revenue.
