Midfield mother allegedly shook infant son so badly he is likely to die

A Midfield mother is accused of abusing her infant son who sustained injuries so severe that he is not expected to recover.

Tesean Laneta Daniele Beard, 30, is charged with aggravated child abuse, according to court records made public Thursday.

Beard was booked into the Jefferson County Jail Wednesday night and remains held without bond.

Charging documents filed by Midfield police said 5-month-old Reazyn Jackson was rushed to Children’s of Alabama on March 1. He was unconscious and did not have a pulse.

An MRI and an X-ray showed that Reazyn had suffered abuse. He had severe head trauma, wrist fractures on both sides and possible rib fractures.

Doctors said the injuries were consistent with shaken baby syndrome, records state.

Police said Reazyn was in the care of Beard when he was injured.

The infant is on a ventilator and has no chance of survival or neurological recovery.

Midfield Police Chief Jesse Bell said the investigation is ongoing.
