An investigation is underway after the weekend shooting death of a Montgomery woman.

Police Monday night identified the victim as Yvette Carter. She was 52.

Officers and fire medics were dispatched at 10:35 p.m. Saturday to the 4900 block of Hatton Avenue, said Maj. Saba Coleman. They arrived to find Carter dead from a gunshot wound.

Coleman said circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. No additional details have been released.
