Trump won’t rule out jail for ‘crooked’ officials behind Russia probe: ‘They have to pay’

President Donald Trump on Wednesday did not rule out taking delight should the former FBI director and ex-director of the CIA be jailed for their roles in the Russia investigation.

Fox News’ Pete Doocy asked Trump if he would like to see ex-FBI Director James Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan “behind bars.”

“I think they are very dishonest people. I think they’re crooked as hell and maybe they have to pay a price for that,” the president said.

“I believe they are truly bad people and dishonest people, so whatever happens, happens.”

Trump’s comments come a day after Comey and Brennan were referred to the FBI for criminal investigation, according to Fox News, which cited Justice Department sources.

Comey led the investigation into possible Trump campaign ties with Russia until the president fired the FBI director in 2017.

Trump became the second president to fire an FBI director.

Brennan was CIA director when the intelligence community released an assessment that Russia sought to influence the 2016 election by aiding the Trump campaign.

Trump denied any involvement, labeling the investigation as the “Russia hoax.”
