Elon Musk threatens to start new political party over ‘Big Beautiful Bill’

Elon Musk on Monday took to his social media platform to castigate Republicans who campaigned on reining in spending but voted in favor of the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” threatening to start a new political party over the disagreement.

“It is obvious with the insane spending of this bill, which increases the debt ceiling by a record FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS that we live in a one-party country – the PORKY PIG PARTY!!“ Musk tweeted.

The world’s richest person, who aimed to cut fraud, waste and abuse from government under the Department of Government efficiency, suggested he would start a new party.

“Time for a new political party that actually cares about the people,” Musk wrote.

Specifically, Musk called out the Freedom Caucus, a group of Republican congressmen who were voted into office on their concerns for the country’s rising debt.

“How can you call yourself the Freedom Caucus if you vote for a DEBT SLAVERY bill with the biggest debt ceiling increase in history?” Musk tweeted, specifically mentioning Reps. Chip Roy of Texas and Andy Harris of Maryland.

Roy voted in favor of the bill while Harris voted “present” when the legislation was taken up by the House last month.

The Senate will try to sprint ahead Monday on President Donald Trump’s big bill of tax breaks and spending cuts despite a series of challenges, including the sudden announcement that GOP Senator Thom Tillis won’t run for reelection after opposing the package over its Medicaid health care cuts, the Associated Press reported.

The hours ahead will be pivotal for the Republicans, who have control of Congress and are racing against Trump’s self-imposed July 4 deadline. The 940-page “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” as it is now formally titled, has consumed Congress as its shared priority with the president, with no room politically to fail, even as not all Republicans are on board.

Musk threatened to fund primary challenges for any Republican who voted for the bill.

“Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame!” he wrote.

“And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth.”
